June brought a variety of fun!
One of things I enjoy most about being an artistic entertainer is the variation in celebrations that I get to be a part of. This June brought all the variety, including typical summer events like markets, birthdays, graduations, school year end parties, Township Celebrations to June specific events like Pride celebrations, a Renaissance Fair, Father’s Day and some advance July 4th and firework events! Summer is just the best!
Each one of these events has its own special flavor and brand of fun. I enjoy birthday celebrations with all different types and ethnicities. It’s so special to see how families love their kids the same but celebrate with their own customs and traditions. I got to be part of a lamb roast, a fairy theme, a backyard barbecue and two luaus! The kids are all running around have a great time, playing with each other, bossing each other, showing off their face paints, some wanting to “look just like my brother” and some loving to surprise their friends with their unique kitty corn or monster creations. Always yelling, “Mom! Dad! - look at me!”. It’s the stuff life and memories are made of and we get a front row seat at the festivities.
Special events like The Goblin Market in Belvidere, Father’s Day at a country club. Montague Day and helping out Elyzabeth Farrell/Painted Makeup at the NJ Renaissance Fair, bring their own inspirations.
The Goblin Market is always a pride forward market that happens three times a year in Belvidere. The artists and vendors that gather are so talented and inspiring with their beautiful hand made and painted crafts. I always come home with many goodies, too many! The people I meet and paint are inspiring as well. It’s a joy to work there and the shows’ creator/organizer Lisabeth, makes sure that face painting is free to anyone who wants it so no one is left out. June is a pet friendly event outside near the river and everyone loves the market mascot, Lisabeth’s adorable dog: Gremlin (also known as Thoth).
Painting at the Renaissance Fair was great, not because of the staggering heat or the beautiful booth I got to work in but because I got to work with a seasoned professional, talented artist. Elyzabeth’s designs are twisty, flowing line work that is so different from the typical sponge and brush we typically do. She’s developed her style over the last 40 years and it’s a fun challenge to learn new techniques. Find out for yourself at the NY Renaissance Faire this summer and the Maryland Renaissance Faire. She has booths at both!
Montague day always manages to have a threat of rain the day of but pulls through at the end. The rain came down as I was driving to the event but a few miles before arriving, the road dried and I was met with a flurry of activity. The organizers did a great job! Jese and I had a line for three hours and painted mostly Red, White and Blue designs for the kids. This was free to families as well, courtesy of the town, and the family’s were so appreciative. We were showered with bubbles from Bubble Frenzy in Lafayette (what fun!) and serenaded by an awesome DJ all night. Yes, I can paint, dance and sing at the same time!
I’m grateful for the busy summer we are having and look forward to sharing more! If you’re planning events for 2027, believe it or not, it’s not too early to book. Our repeat clients have been so good about giving us their dates early so they book up fast.
